Many mainland goods are imported and exported through Hong Kong, especially from Guangdong Province. Why should we import and export from Hong Kong? Carson Logistics gives you the answer:

1. Hong Kong pursues an extremely liberal trade policy

Hong Kong pursues a free trade policy, without any trade barriers, except for tobacco, alcohol, methanol alcohol, automotive gasoline and diesel and other very few commodities, goods entering and leaving Hong Kong are not subject to tariffs. The government has no restrictions on the import and export trade of enterprises, and any enterprise can engage in import and export trade as long as it is registered in accordance with the law. Import and export declaration procedures are very simple, enterprises can declare within 14 days after the import and export of goods. With the exception of passive quota control for textile exports from countries with restrictions, Hong Kong does not have active quota management for imports and exports. In order to fulfil our external commitments and public health, safety and internal security requirements, Hong Kong implements import and export licence control on a small number of commodities under the Import and Export Ordinance, the Reserve Commodities Ordinance, the Ozone Layer Protection Ordinance and their subsidiary legislation.

2. Hong Kong is a free trade port in every sense

The so-called "free port", the full name is "free port of trade", simply put, it is a port or seaport city where goods can be freely entered and left without tariffs. The content of free Hong Kong policy is mainly embodied in three aspects: freedom of trade, freedom of enterprise operation and freedom of exchange. For example, free trade and no preferential and privileged protection for Hong Kong's exports; No customs duties on imported goods; The import and export trade procedures are very simple, generally only need to be declared within 14 days of the import and export of goods, without prior approval. Therefore, there is a logical relationship in the development of Hong Kong: The free port policy reduces the transaction cost, and the low transaction cost develops trade, which promotes openness and attracts foreign investment, driving the rise of shipping, shipbuilding, warehouse, hotel, catering, commerce and banking and other industries, which in turn provide sales channels and markets for industrial development, and promote the transformation of Hong Kong from entrepot trade to "processing trade".

3. Hong Kong is the only free trade port in China!

Hong Kong is the only free trade port area in the real sense of the People's Republic of China. Someone's not convinced. Macau doesn't count? Taiwan, isn't it? Macao is too small. In the past two or three years, goods have indeed been transferred back to China from Macao, but they are ultimately unstable, and they were once seized and abandoned. Therefore, Macao is a minority re-export. Moreover, Macao's relationship is complicated and difficult to be stable, so we will not discuss it. What about Type B bonded areas? In addition to the Suzhou Free Trade Zone (can be called the inland customs), other domestic free trade zones are A-type. That is to say, China still has only one type B free trade zone, but Suzhou is deep in the inland, and its own limitations prevent it from doing more. Hong Kong is considered from a comprehensive strategic perspective, and Hong Kong is definitely a strategic fulcrum far greater than Taiwan. Hong Kong is well connected in all directions, and the numerous flights and freighters in Hong Kong can reach any corner of the world almost instantly.
